Geoff Easton, Mary Muse, and Dave Guffey spoke to the MGMT 295 class, Venue Management, on the 10th of September. Geoff Easton is the Client Tech Support Manager at GrizTix, Mary Muse is the Director of the Adams Center, and Dave Guffey is a spokesman for the Grizzlies.

Keith Miller of William Morris Endeavor Entertainment instructs students

“You want to underplay a market and sell out, rather than play a big venue and have empty seats,” Keith Miller explained to Venue MGMT 295 students in the Entertainment Management Program.  Miller was also a speaker in MGMT 101 Introduction to Entertainment Business.

Pearl Jam’s Management Team Visits UMEM

On September 14 Pearl Jam’s Management team visited MGMT 401 Event Management for a guest lecture on the release of a new record, touring schedule, and their personal experiences in the music industry. Their management team consists of long time manager Kelly Curtis, public relations manager Nicole Vandenberg, entertainment consultant and former president of Sony Records Michele Anthony, and Tim Bierman, manager of Ten Club, the official Pearl Jam fan organization.

Bob Wagoner, ND State Fair Manager, Instructs Students

Bob Wagoner is one of the most qualified venue managers in the industry. Wagoner visited the Entertainment Management program the week of October 5 and shared his knowledge with MGMT 101 Introduction to Entertainment Business, MGMT 295 Venue Management, and MGMT 401 Event Management. His scope of expertise includes, but is not limited to event planning, negotiating, and venue management along with many other daily responsibilities.

Jeremy Sauter, Marketing Consultant

Jeremy Sauter instructed students in MGMT 101, Introduction to Entertainment Business, and MGMT 395, The Business of Film & Television, on September 23 and Septemeber 24, respectively.

Lori Draper, Wedding Planner, Instructs Students

"Remember there are no retakes in a wedding," Lori Draper explained to students in MGMT 401 Event Management on September 28, 2009. At the beginning of her career as a wedding planner, a San Francisco caterer told her this to remind her that details are important.

Maria Brunner, Entertainment Marketing Specialist, Instructs Students

Entertainment marketing specialist and owner of InSight Management, Maria Brunner shared her expertise with students in the Entertainment Management program the week of September 20, 2009. Brunner, a founding member and core instructor for the program, is a marketing dynamo with a client list ranging from the likes of Eric Clapton to Tony LaRussa.

Bernadette Bannister, UM's Director for Community and Professional Services and Event Planner, Instructs Students

"Success is in the details." Bernadette Bannister shared with the 401 Event Management class on September 2nd and 9th. Bannister is a guest instructor for the Entertainment Management Program. Her expertise with large scale events offered students a glimpse into her meticulous profession of planning all aspects of large scale events.
