Ken Kinnear
CEO, Express Entertainment, Inc.
Ken Kinnear is an entrepreneur and business figure based in the Pacific Northwest. He has successfully advanced new products and services in a wide range of industry categories including entertainment, major venue development and the computer technology sector. For over 30 years he worked in the entertainment industry where he provided national and international promotion, talent management, venue development, creation and prdoctuion of entertainment products, properties and events.
Kinnear conceived, developed and operated "The Gorge" amphitheater located on the Columbia River Gorge in eastern Washington State. Under his direction, the venue achieved international recognition and is consistenly voted the Best Amphitheater in North America by Pollstar. In 1994 he negotiated sale of the facility and operations to MCA/Universal and then served as consultant and strategic planner for the venue until 2004. He was founder of Albatross Productions and later with then partner John Bauer, formed Bauer-Kinnear Enterprises, Inc. and Media One, Inc.
As a promoter he has produced and promoted up to 250 major concerts per year throughout the Western United States and Canada for virtually every category of popular entertainment including rock, jazz, folk and country, in venues ranging from 85,000+ seat stadiums to small clubs. He served as a consultant for municipal arena and event facilities (Seattle Center, Kingdome, Tacoma Dome, BC Place, and Intrawest Resorts). Companies founded by Kinnear (Albatross Productions, Media One, Bauer-Kinnear Enterprises, Arena Services and Express Entertainment) achieved gross revenues exceeding $500 Million Dollars. These headlined artists such as Paul McCartney, Madonna, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Elton John and Fleetwood Mac. His companies generated ticket sales in excess of 1 million people a year.
Kinnear has served as worldwide personal management and representation for many popular entertainment figures. His personal management clients have included Heart, Firefall, Q5 and others. In this capacity, Kinnear supervised all group business including negotiations of recording contracts, relationships with record companies, marketing and merchandising of retail products, personal representation of groups to booking agencies and concert promoters for various national and international performances (including over 500 concert dates in fifteen countries). He organized and conducted a number of national and world tours, supervising the logistical support of a 100 member crew and compliment of touring transport, trucks, buses and aircraft, and has been awarded over 50 gold and platinum records for his work with various artists. Kinnear supervised the creation and production of artist's recordings and CDs as well as all related marketing and promotional material including the production of over twenty film projects. He negotiated and secured numerous national sponsorship agreements and supervised all outside vendors and subcontractors for events and tours.
Promotion and Marketing: Has directed media campaigns to promote concerts and record releases in excess of $2 million annually, and conceived and coordinated many national marketing campaigns ranging from $250,000 to $1.5 million each. His current project is the launch of a performance automobiles based arena touring product called Showdown USA. The show combines state of the art theatrical sound and lighting with patented equipment to create a hot rod circus with indoor drag racing, drifting, stunt bikes, hill climbs and battle bots. Kinnear enlisted in the U.S. Army where he qualified for and completed Officer Candidate School, receiving a commission as an artillery officer.
He is an accomplished pilot with multiple ratings for single and multi-engine aircraft including jets and helicopters. He is a certified flight instructor and has flown extensively throughout the U.S., Europe and the Caribbean. He is the author of a number of U.S. Patents relating to performance automobiles.
