Matt Anderson, Co-owner of Porch Productions, Instructs Students

Matt Anderson, co-owner of Porch Productions, met with students in MGMT 395: The Business of Film & Television, on September 22.

Matt's background in social work gave him a desire to create documentary films to inspire change. His discussion focused on the need for acquiring funding for films, primarily through grants. He said, with documentaries, the best place to search for grants is through local and national non-profits that relate to the film.

He warranted that when filing for grants to fully understand the organizations proposals. Once you understand this, it's unnecessary to add information that distracts from the overall message.

His insight into grant writing gave students a considerable amount of understanding when budgeting for film and television.
